What is Algebra 2??
Second-Year
Algebra has become the cornerstone class for entry into the more advanced mathematics classes available at the High School.
It also covers material that would be found in the college version (usually called Intermediate Algebra), making this
course required for CSU and UC acceptance. Students continue to master algebraic techniques for simplifying expressions,
solve equations involving one to three variables, investigate matrices, analyze functions graphed in a coordinate plane (conic
sections and exponential functions) and some trigonometry. Success is key in this course for future math courses, as
Algebra 2 provides both the foundational understanding and tools necessary.
What is AP Statistics??
Advanced Placement Statistics is one of two AP math courses
offered at SHS. Statistics is a field that is growing in it's application in many different subjects and careers. Many
college majors require some Statistics courses, probably more than Calculus. But more than this, students in a digital
information age are increasingly introduced to the use of statistics in news and other media. A solid background in
statistical reasoning contributes to becoming well-informed and judicious citizens.

A great S.T.U.D.Y. Tip for Parents and Students!

Stay
on top of your study schedule.
Television,
video games, pets, computer, the phone, etc. are all distractions! Maintain a quiet work environment.
Use
your assignment notebook.
Do
you know how you use your time? Keep track on a time chart (available from your counselor).
Yes,
you can do it! If you need help, ask your teacher, counselor, and/or parent.
Remember...the only real thing that stands between you and success is YOU!!
